this makes me happy

from today's detroit free press:

The Tigers appear willing to include reliever Fernando Rodney in trade offers. The right-hander has been inconsistent since returning from the disabled list. ...

rodney was light's out in 2006, but now seems like he needs a change of scenery to check his ego (he's always been a signal-shaker) and listen to the catcher. honestly, i could almost see the yankees gunning for him. wise, maybe not, but funny, sure.

I wax nostalgic far too often. Especially about sports. Especially about baseball. Especially about Detroit Tigers baseball. Thus, from hundreds of miles away from Detroit, and not having actually seen a game in person or personally in front of a television since the 2006 World Series, I can say in my uneducated way that I like Fernando Rodney the pitcher. Then again, seeing Dontrelle Willis last year get two hits against the Cincinnati Reds (in person) and having it not be enough to help him win the game (Go Reds!), I like him too and thought getting him was a great trade. For the record, while Rodney is not personally to blame, it was clearly throwing errors which kept the Tigers from winning more games in the '06 Series, and he made a doozy. So I like Rodney the pitcher, but the fielder will be burned into my memory and forgiveness does not come easy. I wouldn't want just a prospect or a draft choice for him, though. We got not-nearly-enough for Jeff Weaver from the Yankees as I recall. Not that Weaver was David Wells or anything (see how nostalgia can also be just plain bitter!) but I hate the New York Yankees and don't want them to succeed with Tiger players!

Still, I must defer to your Tiger expertise. If you say it would be a good parting, than may it part well and soon.

Much Peace.
